Why should you choose USTIA?
The US Travel Insurance Association is the premier travel insurance association connecting all facets of the industry.
What makes USTIA the premier travel insurance association?
USTIA is a hybrid association advancing the travel insurance industry and supporting the individuals who work within the industry. Membership is open to any company actively involved in or supplying services to the travel insurance sector.
The Power of the USTIA Network
In an evolving travel insurance landscape, no one succeeds alone. Our network brings together the brightest minds across the insurance, reinsurance, and captive markets in roles including underwriting, product innovation, claims management, and compliance. Additionally, USTIA is strengthened by third-party administrators, managing general agents, assistance companies, air ambulance companies, service providers, travel suppliers, and software providers.
As a member, you don’t just join an association—you gain:
- Connections that Count: Make connections with essential decision-makers and prospective partners.
- Access unique research, trend analyses, and learning events customized for the sector at your fingertips.
- Share your knowledge, advocate for policies affecting your job, and be a voice in the discussion on influence standards.
- Momentum for your career: Whether you’re rising in the ranks or leading a team, this is where professional development accelerates
USTIA’s Advocacy Strategy and Strength
Our members’ voices are amplified through coordinated action, advancing policies that make travel protection more effective, accessible, and responsive. Together, we are not only watching the regulatory landscape—we’re shaping it.
Our strength rests in influence as well as in number. We use strong policy knowledge and energetic advocacy to help create a legal climate favoring innovation, access, and choice in travel insurance. We interact with regulators, lawmakers, and business stakeholders to:
- Encourage contemporary, fair legislation that evolves with human travel patterns. Change this to something that sounds better on the advocacy page.
- Make sure that products are available throughout countries so customers can select the coverage appropriate for their needs.
- Promote compliance, consistency, and clarity, therefore lowering providers’ workload and guarding the traveling public
Through organized effort, the voices of our members are amplified; this promotes policies that make travel protection more efficient, affordable, and sensitive. We are helping to create the regulatory environment rather than just watching it together.
Membership Levels
Five membership levels that all travel insurance insiders can enjoy:
- Full member – Insurance carriers, reinsurance carriers, captive insurance entities, third-party administrators (TPA) that have claims-paying authority on behalf of an insurance carrier, and managing general agents (MGA) and managing general underwriters (MGU) that have binding authority for an insurance carrier and that underwrite, distribute, and administer travel insurance programs.
- Subsidiary Member – Entities that meet the above categorizations and are under the umbrella of an existing Full Member.
- Associate Member – Travel assistance companies, air ambulance companies, common carriers, companies, and individuals that provide professional services to the travel industry, hospitals, healthcare facilities, PPOs, healthcare providers, and travel insurance aggregators that provide quotes for three or more travel insurance carriers.
- Distributor Member – Retail travel agencies and retail travel agents, tour operators, and insurance producers who distribute retail travel insurance plans. Must not act as a TPA, MGA, MGU, or Insurance Aggregator as described for Associate Members.
